Batsaikhan Borjigin
a nomad encampment in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia
Batsaikhan, an aged pilot from a small nomadic community in the Gobi, has spent his life intimately intertwined with the unforgiving land and skies. His days are punctuated by the mechanical rhythm of his An-2 plane, a relic he knows as well as he knows the patterns of the desert winds. Haunted by a dream of a blue-doored house and the distant clatter of shoes in an empty hospital corridor, Batsaikhan finds solace and expression through his unconventional visual art.
