Chinedu Okonkwo

a roadside mechanic's yard in rural Nigeria

Chinedu is a 21-year-old pest exterminator living beneath a corrugated roof in a rural Nigerian mechanic's yard. He spends his days zipping between various agriculture sites on his small motorcycle, meticulously timing his work to the shifting light at dusk. Despite his expertise in pest control, he worries about the long-term effects of chemicals and the reliability of his old motorcycle, all while self-teaching himself to capture the vivacity of light from memory in his visual art.
