Hédi Ben Amar

a date palm oasis in southern Tunisia

Hédi Ben Amar has lived his entire life in the starkly beautiful landscapes of southern Tunisia, surrounded by date palms and the endless whispers of the desert wind. His meticulous nature developed from years of tending the oasis, matched by the precision required in his taxidermy work preserving the delicate lives of desert animals. Despite his geographical constraints, Hédi's world is vast, and his spirit resilient, evidenced by his intimate relationship with a soundless keyboard where he plays melodies only in his mind. He carries the sense of time, both in the drying sands and the drying skins he expertly tans, ever conscious of the natural rhythms that sustain his home and craft.
