Lucien Martel
a concrete housing estate in Marseille's northern quarters
Lucien Martel grew up in the softer stone quarters of Marseille, where he learned to play the organ at a young age. After decades drumming a steady rhythm to his life and his church, he's now settled into a small apartment, alone but attentive, his days marked by the faces that wander his courtyard. He lacks the puzzle-piece of their names but assembles his art from the ephemera of a life less visible, always in tune with what lingers on the edges of sound and sight.
